Changing the world, one life at a time

Growing up, my parents always taught me to try to make the world a better place and to find my place in the world. So, I figured, I need to become famous because they have all the money and resources to protect the world. But as I grew older, I realized that all I need to do is become a better person. So I decided that I can give the world one less criminal by obeying all laws to the best of my ability, to try not to damage our environment anymore by recycling, and to pray for lost and poor souls. That was all fine and dandy to me, but when I joined my church's youth group my freshman year in high school, I realized that I wasn't doing enough for my world. So, from that point on, I decided to dedicate my life to helping make the world a better place, even if I only help one person a day. For example, I began to volunteer at 1st Way Crisis Pregnancy Center my freshman through junior year. All they had me do there was organize baby clothes and maternity clothes, make gift baskets, clean, and switch out seasonal clothes when the time came. I knew I wasn't directly impacting the lives of others, but I was helping the women who worked at 1st Way by making their job a little easier so they can focus more on the needy mothers who came in seeking advice, clothes, food, etc.

I think I have a lot to offer the world talent wise. One talent, in particular, is my ability to sing. I've been singing since I first started high school and I knew that I wanted to help others through my singing. So i joined my church choir and through them I have realized what an impact music has on my faith and others. I have sung at concerts and praise and worship sessions with this choir and I can see the impact our music has on others: people begin to open up more, some have religious experiences, while some sit there and soak up all the music and meaningful lyrics.

Love the Ghandi quote, it's one of my favorites. You should have told us about your volunteer work during the interview. Everything a volunteer does is worth it, remember it's about the people you are helping and not you.

Mahatma Gandhi is one of my most admired people of all times. Left a legacy and a wonderful philosophy on life. I also want to kcknowledge you for using music to inspire people. I love music and I believ it a key to ones self.
