When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

When I was younger when I'd express my distress about problems in the world to my mom she would tell me "you can't save everyone," which discouraged me. Even if it wasn't completely blowing away any attempt I should make to try to better the world it was enough to make me more inactive. Since I don't think I was really part of a "community" so to speak, there wasn't really an opportunity to many others in that  vein to discourage or encourage me.

Since people sometimes come to me to help them with it, I think fairly I'm okay at softening speech so that it doesn't sound offensive. While I may not be very good when I comes to actually speaking, I think I'm able to assist with preparing to speak. Drawing may also be something I'd be able to help a cause, even if my "skills" aren't fantastic.

"The dogmas of the past are inadequate to the stormy present" (Abraham Lincoln).

A. I really like your post title!

B. I think your mother's comment is a reflection of how many people feel, for when things seem so bad, so big, and so dificult, it can be easier to simply come to such a conclusion than to risk the emotional and other hardships associated with confronting them. It is good, however, that this did not ultimately discourage you.

I love your title post! Very creative! But my mom has told me this a lot too that I cant fix everyones problems and that I need to worry about myself but I think this is the only aspect where I didnt agree with her.... you can help anyone you choose if its fo the right reasons, if everyone worried soley about themselves imagin how worse our world would be. Do what YOU feel is right.

Well, I am glad that you are going to make a difference now. While we can't save everyone, we can definitely make a difference in many lives.

Also, I think you are an awesome speaker! From the conversations I have had with you, I have realized that you can carry yourself in a conversation very well. Do not sell yourself short, you are an awesome person!
